We will meet on Nilaveli beach and usually the boat ride to pigeon island takes between 10 to 15 minutes. Upon arrival you will be provided by the snorkeling equipment such as mask, gear and fins (life jackets are available at the boat). In the shallow water around the national park, you may able to easily spot tropical fish and other marine creatures living by the reefs while Blacktip sharks are very common in this region (don’t worry, they are harmless and staying calm and observe them will give you a satisfactory experience). If you are lucky, you may able to spot sea turtles which can be seen occasionally in this region. The water is shallow and completely safe for beginners. However, if you need an extra comfort you may able to hire a snorkeling guide from the island (on tipping basis). You are free to relax on the island’s sandy beach at your own pace and at the end of experience, we will drop you back to Nilaveli beach along with the memories grabbed across this experience..

I am Traveling between October to February which is not available to book. Why is that?
The period from October to February is considering as the off season. Ocean is rough and it is not worth to go.
Is it safe to snorkeling without a guide?
Yes. The allowed area for snorkeling is clearly marked around the island. This area is shallow and ideal for both beginners and experts. However, if you need to get the assistance of an expert, you can hire a guide from the island and usually they are not asking for a exact price. The general amount for tipping is Rs 2000.00 to 4000.00, depending on your choice.
How much I need to bring for the national park entrance fees?
Entrance ticket (per person): $8 + Service charge (per group): $10 + Boat fee: Rs 125.00 to be directly paid to the wildlife office on the island.
What are the payment options to pay the national park entrance fees?
